Presente sia ai margini dei corsi d’acqua che nelle zone umide interne, è inconfondibile per la capacità di pattinare sfruttando la tensione superficiale dell’acqua tanto da poter compiere balzi. Si tratta di una cimice, dotata di uno stiletto col quale si nutre di altri invertebrati che trova galleggianti sull’acqua.

The water strider is to be found both at the margins of streams and in inland wetlands, it is recognizable by its ability to skate by exploiting the surface tension of the water such that it can make leaps. It is a bug, equipped with a stylet with which it feeds on other invertebrates it finds floating on the water.
